Dry Shipping Lawyer (Contentious) - London - KW35576

A large international law firm with a highly rated Shipping practice is looking to bolster their contentious team with the recruitment of lawyers with a background in this area. The firm is known for their expertise in both shipping and commodities, and has a strong international presence, with offices in all the major shipping hubs worldwide. The firm advises a first rate client list made up of companies from all backgrounds within the shipping industry, and is offering an excellent salary plus benefits. The firm's London based marine team works closely with the rest of their international network of maritime lawyers, including master mariners and solicitors with seafaring experience, to provide a comprehensive marine service only offered by a select few firms. The role comes with a market leading remuneration package, along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance and a generous pension plan.

The role will involve handling a range of dry shipping litigation, including disputes centering on charterparties, bill of lading litigation, general cargo claims and ship arrests. The ideal candidate will have gained post qualification experience within a UK or foreign law firm where they gained expertise in charterparty and cargo disputes. Due to the international nature of this role, prior experience of handling international arbitration will be highly advantageous, although it is not obligatory. The successful candidate will be expected to integrate into the shipping team quickly, handling their own caseload and supporting senior members of the team on complex litigation.
