Trainer/Assessor - Automotive
Fixed Term for 1 year. Part Time 21 hours per week
£14,018 to £18,061 pa incl. LAA dependant on Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications required are a NVQ Level III (or equivalent) in the appropriate vocational trade and ideally hold or are working towards the A1 (or TDLB D32, 33) assessor qualifications. Ideally you will have a teaching qualification but if not, you will be required to gain one within in a specific timescale, we will give you support in gaining this qualification.

The College of North West London (CNWL) based in Brent is a successful Further Education College offering a wide range of full time and part time courses, from beginner to foundation degree/HND/HNC level.
Description of duties
* To be responsible for an agreed caseload of candidates providing occupational training and assessment, and, where appropriate, undertake internal verification.
* Assessment and training will take place in a variety of work environments including work-based and college based, and you will regularly liaise with the Account Manager.
* Support to a caseload of candidates to achieve their qualification within agreed timescales following a pre agreed assessment plan
* Carry out assessment activities in the required locations
* Ensure fair access to equal opportunities in assessment for all candidates
* Support candidates in completing portfolio of evidence
* Assesses the candidates work in line with national and awarding body
* standards and provide feedback that strengthens learning

* Liaise with College and workplace internal verifiers to maintain quality systems in line with NVQ code of practice and awarding body requirements.
* Undertake administrative tasks to support profile of activity

Experience / Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
* A NVQ Level III in an appropriate vocational trade.
* Teaching or training qualification or registered and 'working towards'.
* It is a requirement of the job that all post holders must register with the IfL and complete the appropriate continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.
* Recent industry experience in either a vocational or managerial role or recent experience in the training and assessing of operatives / apprentices at NVQ Level II and III.
* Experience of assessing and compiling NVQ portfolios.
* A successful record of supporting students and acting as a course tutor.
* Good communication and numeracy skills and the ability to work within a team.
* Awareness of HSAW legislation and its application to occupational area.
* Willingness to undertake further training / qualifications as
* Clear, informative and customer focused communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with staff at all levels across the College and externally.
* Experienced and practiced organisational skills e.g. the ability to keep clear and up-to-date records, and produce clear, informative reports.
* Experience of carrying out health and safety assessments within the workplace.
* Ability and experience of using a range of IT packages and equipment, and competent to maintain and manage data gathering exercises.
* Ability to express a high level of motivation for the post
* Understanding of and willingness to actively support and promote equality and diversity.
* You may be required to work evenings, weekends and over summer holiday periods.
* To have an understanding of, and commitment to Equal Opportunities in practice.

Desirable Criteria:
* A' Unit assessor training award or registered and 'working towards'
* V' Unit internal verifier training award or willing to undertake the training.
* To have a working knowledge and understanding of current requirements of Automotive Engineering NVQ's.
* Experience of working within a team to manage own workload and assist in compiling and managing quality assurance procedures.
* Manage records and write up individual learning plans.
* Develop written and practical assignments from basic ideas within given parameters.
