My client is a well respected 1st tier manufacturer of components for the Automotive OEM's. Very successful with a good order book they are looking to recruit the following: -
1 x Project / Production Engineer
* To Support the Project Manager/Leader in the Introduction of new Products into
production (within cost, quality and timing objectives).
* Develop specific elements of the Project as defined by the Project Manager.
Main Responsibilities: -
* Carry out detailed Engineering on new products and running changes using our
own and Customer systems.
* Support customer APQP processes and support FMEA and control plan
preparation.
* To Identify Tooling required to manufacture parts at both Prototype and Production
stages.
* To support the creation of Process documentation.
* Support machine planning, specification and ordering.
* Assist in machine pass offs and carry out process capability studies.
* Carry out production machine trials and associated Development and problem
solving.
* Support cost saving initiatives on Design and Process improvements.
* Support Supplier or Customer visits if required to discuss manufacturing methods
and support team review meetings.
* Support sample manufacture as necessary.
* Support the activities of the Project Team and the Engineering department.
* Achieve goals within tight time constraints.
* Support the Project Leader in achieving His/Her Goals.
* Liaise with Customers and Suppliers in a professional manner.
* Work within different teams on multiple projects.
* Attend and Support project reviews.
* To support the Departmental targets and Strategy.
* Use company systems to report project progress.
* To Support the Introduction of new products into production (within cost, quality and
timing requirements).
* Define Tooling and Fixturing to manufacture Prototype Parts.
* To Develop Processes to achieve the Project Objectives.
* To be able to set and Operate key Processes.
* To manufacture Prototype components and complete the relevant Documentation.
* To Support the needs of the Internal Customer (Maintain Customer Satisfaction).
* To adhere to company rules and regulations (Knowledge of rules and adherence).
* To keep abreast of Engineering Practices in order to improve the Performance and
Efficiency of the Engineering Department.
* Ensuring knowledge of the associated disciplines is kept current in order to keep
the company at the forefront of modern practices.
* To strive to deliver excellence in all areas of the business.
* Support any other reasonable request made for assistance by the company.
Qualification and Experience: -
* Good verbal and written communication skills together with computer literacy.
* Knowledge of manufacturing assembly, joining and metal cutting processes.
* Ability to produce and read engineering drawings.
* Ability to measure components.
* A general awareness of pneumatics and hydraulics.
* A good understanding of Tooling, Fixture design and function.
* Good analytical and problem solving abilities, together with good organisational
skills.
* Willingness to travel on company business for short periods as necessary and the
ability to liaise with customers or suppliers.
* Ability to achieve targets and objectives.
* A current driving licence and passport.
* Preferably supporting qualifications in a manufacturing or Engineering discipline.
* A strong engineering background with proven experience.
* You must be willing to travel both abroad and within the UK on company business
and work at Customer or Supplier premises.
* Must Possess a current driving licence and passport.
* A sensible level of additional working hours are required to support the objectives
of the project where necessary.
Salary: - c30-35K dependant on experience and qualifications plus pension.
Hours of work: 8.00am - 4.30pm Mon-Thur, lunch 12.30-1.00pm, Fri 8.00am-1.00pm, no lunch.
